A little Credence Clearwater Revival is pumped from the muzak speakers in our virtual office as we sit waiting for an interview. Today's office comes to us via a Burger King of Highway 532 in Washington. Except for a few minor glitches and an occasional ketchup spill, the virtual office concept has held its own on the road. Granted we're only on day 10 of our journey, but everyday helps. Some days I think we're poster boys for gadgets and technology. Our main production center consists of an Apple PowerBook G3, QuickTake digital camera, and the discontinued Newton MessagePad 2000 on which I'm currently typing. The sad part is that I owned all of these gadgets before embarking on the Quest. I guess I subconsciously knew that I wanted to live the virtual office life. Chris is playing with yesterday's images of Seattle - cropping, sharpening, and editing them for web publication. Today I write a journal. Other days it could be transcribing interviews or responding to e-mail. Whatever the case, there's plenty to do. The great thing about the virtual office is that you can just pack up and leave whenever it suits you (or at least when they stop serving free refills). And with that I must pack up and head out to our interview. See you next stop. © Brian Ardinger, 1998
