Someday
Brian's Journal, September 6, 1998

Someday seems to be a day a lot of us are looking forward to. It's the day when we'll be less stressed, have more time to spend with our families, have a new job, travel more, own our own business. The list can go on and on. Someday.

Someday is a day I've heard a lot about recently. When I was preparing to set off on the quest, I was amazed at the number of people who came up to me and said things like "Someday, I'd like to do what you're doing." "Someday, I'll quit this lousy job." "Someday I'll have the time, money, energy to do this, that, or the other thing."

The problem with "someday" is that it is always just out of reach. It seems so close. Just a few more days away. I can wait until it comes. Someday is inevitable. Or is it?

At some point, you've got to take action to go and get someday. It will not come to you. The people I've had the opportunity to meet on the road all agree. The only real way to get to someday is to make "someday" today.

This doesn't mean that you have to accomplish everything today or reach your goals tomorrow. It does mean you have to stop procrastinating. Success is an active process, one that requires action, today not someday.
